Addis Ababa, October 24, 2023 (Addis Walta) State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, said that Ethiopia has been a proud and profound voice of multilateral diplomacy in the UN system.
The state minister made the remark today at the commemoration of the 78th United Nations Day held at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) premises in Addis Ababa.
Speaking at the gathering, Ambassador Mesganu underscored that “Ethiopia, as one of the founding members of the UN, would always be an ardent proponent of the principles of the UN Charter.”
He also pointed out that Ethiopia has been a “profound voice of multilateral diplomacy in the UN system, and pledged to advance the unique partnership between the UN and Africa.” He further stated that Ethiopia is committed to supporting and strengthening its cooperation with UNECA.
Ambassador Mesganu further called upon the international community to recommit to the principles of the UN Charter, and to meaningful and urgent reforms of the current global architecture, according to the MFA of Ethiopia.
The commemoration Day was attended by high-level UN officials and representatives from the African Union.
