MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Sunday arrived in Mahas town in the central region of Hiran after setbacks in an offensive against the Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab.
Mohamud will hold meetings with local authorities, elders and members of security forces to resume the fight against the rebel group, weeks after troops vacated a number of towns in the neighboring region of Galgadud following a deadly attack by insurgents, his office said in a statement.
The President was wearing military uniform as he arrived in the frontal town by helicopter.
