Addis Ababa, July 5, 2023 (Walta) European Union together with its several member states granted Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission with 7 million Dollar support.
The agreement was signed by the Chief Commissioner for the Ethiopian National Consultative Commission, Professor Mesfen Araya, and the Ambassador of the European Union to Ethiopia, Roland Kobia, in the presence of State Minister of Finance, Semerita Sewasew
Speaking at the signing ceremony, EU Ambassador Roland Kobia underscored that Ethiopia has the capacity and will to address its challenges through an inclusive national dialogue, according to ENA.
Together with the EU Austria, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, and Norway are the key donors of the grant. In the near future, more EU countries are expected to join in this effort.
The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission is established in 2022 by the House of People’s Representatives with a three-year mandate to lead an independent, inclusive, and transparent national dialogue in Ethiopia.
The national dialogue commission is currently undertaking preliminary consultations to identify dialogue participants and key national-level agenda issues at the grass root level.
