Addis Ababa, June 30, 2024 (Addis Walta) Former Nigerian football players stated that their stay in Ethiopia was exciting and they realized Ethiopia is under rapid development.
Former Nigerian footballers Nwankwo Kanu, Daniel Amokachi, Taribo West, the Senegalese football player, Henry Kamara have been in Ethiopia since last week for Shenen Africa Festival.
The former footballers have visited the Grand Ethiopian Renascence Dam (GERD) and other major development projects.
Earlier today, the they played football match with Prime Minister Abiy’s team at Sheger Friendship Park. They also took part in tree planting session under PM Abiy initiated Green Legacy.
Former Arsenal and Nigerian forward, Nwankwo Kanu, expressed his amazement by Ethiopia’s rich culture and beauty.
He said that during their stay in Ethiopia, they felt at home by the impeccable hospitality and he consider to come back in the future.
The other Nigerian footballer, Daniel Amukachi, said that Ethiopians warmly welcomed them with honor and love during their time here.
He further noted that the friendly game with the Prime Minister and his participation in the sapling planting program were unforgettable memories, per ENA.
