Mogadishu, SONNA — The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, Ali Yusuf Ali, has overseen the transition of leadership at the National Commission For Refugees, IDPs (NCRI). In a formal ceremony, the Minister handed over the reins to Ahmed Hussen Elmi, the newly appointed Commissioner, and commended the outgoing Commissioner, Ms. Safiya Hassan Mohamed, for her significant contributions.
During his remarks, Minister Ali Hosh emphasized the critical importance of the NCRI in addressing the needs of refugees and internally displaced persons across the country. He urged Commissioner Ahmed Hussen Elmi to prioritize and accelerate the work of the authority, ensuring effective support for displaced communities.
The Minister also extended his heartfelt appreciation to Ms. Safiya Hassan Mohamed for her dedicated service during her tenure, highlighting the progress made under her leadership.
The transition marks a renewed commitment to strengthening Somalia’s capacity to address the challenges faced by displaced populations, ensuring their safety, dignity, and access to essential services.
