MOGADISHU, Somalia — Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Friday inaugurated three new roads in Mogadishu, marking a significant step in the city’s infrastructure development.
The ceremony not only celebrated the completion of these projects but also saw the Prime Minister lay the foundation stone for another vital road project that will connect Dabka to the bustling Bakara Market intersection.
During the event, Prime Minister Barre highlighted the importance of these initiatives, stating that they are crucial for enhancing mobility, supporting economic activities, and improving the aesthetic appeal of the capital.
He emphasized that these developments are emblematic of Somalia’s broader efforts towards progress and recovery.
“The roads you see today are a direct result of your contributions, a tangible return on the taxes you pay,” Barre said, addressing the crowd. He stressed that reinvesting in public infrastructure is not just about improving security and economic opportunities but also about giving back to the people of Somalia through visible, impactful projects.
The inauguration comes as part of a broader governmental push to revitalize Somalia’s infrastructure, aiming to facilitate trade, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance safety in one of Africa’s fastest-growing cities.
This development is seen as a step towards economic revitalization and urban renewal in Mogadishu, reflecting the government’s commitment to using public funds for the benefit of its citizens.
