MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – A vehicle belonging to the commander of Puntland’s elite counter-terrorism unit, known as PSF, Mohamud Osman came under fire in the commercial port city of Bosaso amid escalating tensions in the region, Caasimada Online news website reported on Sunday.
The attack took place mere days after regional authorities, who are at odds with Osman, received a shipment of weapons from Ethiopia—an action that raised eyebrows within Somalia’s federal government.
In an interview with SBC, a local TV station, Osman stated that he was not in the car during the incident; however, his family was in the vehicle, returning to town after being away for the summer.
The commander refrained from providing more information and did not indicate whether there were any casualties.
