JOWHAR, Somalia — The President of Hirshabelle, Ali Gudlawe Hussein, along with Commissioner Mahamuud Moallim and the National Emergency Committee (NEC), met in SoDMA HQs in Mogadishu to strategize a response to the recent catastrophic fire at the Hanti Wadaag Market in Jowhar.
The meeting, held in the wake of the devastating incident, aimed at formulating a comprehensive plan to address the immediate needs of those affected and to prevent future occurrences.
Details of the strategic response were not disclosed, but sources close to the NEC indicate that both short-term relief and long-term recovery initiatives are under consideration.
The fire, which ravaged one of Jowhar’s busiest markets, has left many vendors without their livelihoods. The community has called for swift action to support the recovery efforts.
President Hussein emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the affected traders and ensuring that such incidents do not disrupt the economic fabric of Jowhar. “We are here to rebuild and strengthen,” he stated, promising transparency and efficiency in the relief operations.
