Addis Ababa, July 10, 2024 (Addis Walta) Ethiopia and Iran pledged to further scale up their bilateral ties.
The State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, received the newly appointed ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ethiopia, Ali Akbar Rezaei.
Ambassador Mesganu congratulated Iran for the successful conclusion of the 2nd run-off Iranian presidential election. The state minister assured Ethiopia’s commitment to work with the newly elected Iranian President, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian.
During their discussion, Ambassador Mesganu underlined the need to explore various avenues, including the BRICS, to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
The Iranian Ambassador Designate, Ali Akbar Rezaei, in his part, expressed Iran’s commitment to further scale up bilateral relations in various sectors, including technology transfer, education, trade, and investment, per MFA of Ethiopia.
In this regard, he expressed his plans to reactivate the Ethio-Iran joint ministerial commission meeting on economic, scientific, and technical cooperation in the near future.
