MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Tuesday wrapped up a two-day visit to Eritrea amid escalating tensions with neighboring Ethiopia over a sea access deal it had signed with Somaliland.
Shortly before returning home, Mohamud visited Somali air force cadets trained in Eritrea and applauded Asmara’s support in the rebuilding the Somali army.
President Mohamud also held extensive discussions with his Eritrean counterpart Isaias Afwerki on strengthening bilateral ties, Eritrean Minister of Information Yemane Meskel said.
Somali President “applauded Eritrea’s modest contribution in the re-building of Somalia’s national army as part and parcel of its solidarity with the people and nation of Somalia,” he added.
