MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The ambassador of the United Kingdom to Somalia Mike Nithavrianakis met with the President of northeastern Somalia’s semi-autonomous region of Puntland Saeed Abdullahi Deni, UK embassy in Mogadishu said on Sunday.
“We talked about a whole range of issues specific to Puntland following President Deni’s re-election, his economic and social development plan, issues of security, piracy, the relationship between Puntland the Federal Government of Somalia following the constitutional review changes,” Nithavrianakis.
The meeting comes amid escalating tensions between Puntland leadership and Somalia’s federal government over changes in the constitution.
