MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Wednesday urged the leaders of regional states not to politicize issues of national importance, including national unity, territorial integrity, security and the safety of citizens, days after a scheduled meeting of the National Consultative Council was delayed.
Mohamud said his government is determined not to politicize its obligation to provide crucial funds to the state authorities and evenly distribute food and development aid between the regions.
The message comes after most of regional states refused to attend a meeting called by Mohamud to soothe tensions between him and federal member states over changes in the constitution.
