MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Monday visited the frontline towns of Haradhere and Eldher in the central regions of Mudug and Galgadud in an effort to revive stalled offensive against insurgents, his office said in a statement.
Accompanied by the leader of Galmudug state Ahmed Qoorqoor and the Minister of Defense Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, Mohamud spoke to residents in the two towns and urged their garrisons to remain steadfast in their defense against growing Al-Shabaab attacks.
It comes weeks after insurgents recaptured a number of towns in the two regions, including Caad, Amara, Ba’adwayn and Run-nirgod.
