MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Authorities in northeastern Somalia’s Puntland state on Sunday declared autonomy and withdrew recognition of the federal government led by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in response to the unanimous approval of four new chapters in the constitution by the two chambers of parliament on Saturday.
In a statement, Puntland said it would act independently from the federal government and would deal with the international community in pursuit of its interests until authorities in Mogadishu complete the constitution through inclusive and conciliatory approach.
