Addis Ababa, March 12, 2024 (Addis Walta) Ministry of Finance (MoF) and a high-level delegation from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs held discussion on bilateral and multilateral issues.
Head of the Italian delegates, Director-General for Development Cooperation, Stefano Gatti discussed with State Ministers of Finance, Eyob Tekalign (Ph.D.) and Semereta Sewasew.
In their discussion, the Ethiopian officials appreciated the government of the Republic of Italy for its support on government’s priorities, emphasizing the urgent need for accelerated financial assistance.
The Italian delegates, on their part, stated its commitment in closely collaborate to boost ongoing projects in areas of agro-processing, energy, jobs creation, improving coffee productivity and enhancing its value chains, urban development and expand development cooperation.
In addition, Italy, as the president of the G7, pledged support for Ethiopia’s development aspirations, urging the Ethiopian team to leverage climate funds and the “Mattei Plan” for African development, announced by the Italian government in early 2023, according to MoF of Ethiopia.
