Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Speaker of Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe) chaired the 1st meeting of the 4th session of the House of the People as they placed the spotlight on the widespread devastation caused by torrential rains across various regions of the country.
With a quorum of 143 members present, the focus of the meeting was squarely on discussing the extent of the flood damage and formulating strategies to alleviate the crisis. The parliamentarians expressed their concerns about the affected population, emphasising the need for swift action from charitable organisations to provide immediate assistance.
During the deliberations, Members of the House of the People proposed that rescue operations for the affected citizens take precedence and simultaneously stressed the urgency of ensuring essentials to address the immediate needs of those impacted.
The Speaker said that further discussions and decision-making on the proposals put forth by Members of Parliament would resume on Wednesday. The Parliament remains steadfast in its commitment to finding effective solutions to the ongoing flood crisis, prioritizing the welfare of the Somali people.
