The Auditor General of the Government, Mr. Abdurahman Mohamed Anas, presented the 2022 annual financial report to the Council of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Somalia on Thursday. The report is of special importance to the country and its financial system, as it shows the progress and challenges of the government’s fiscal performance.
The report was approved by the Council of Ministers after a long reading and analysis. It covers the revenues and expenditures of the government, the audit findings and recommendations, and the compliance with the budget law and other regulations.
The report is the first official audit report presented to the government officials since 2017, when the last audit report was made. Since then, no audit report has been made due to various reasons, including security issues, lack of resources, and political instability.

He also said that the report identifies some areas that need improvement, such as revenue collection, budget execution, internal control, and financial reporting.
The report was welcomed by the Prime Minister of Somalia, Mr.Hamza Abdi Bare, who praised the Auditor General and his staff for their efforts and professionalism. He also said that the government is committed to implementing the audit recommendations and improving its financial management.
The report will be submitted to the Parliament for further review and discussion. It will also be published on the website of the Auditor General’s Office for public access.
