Addis Ababa, October 10, 2023 (Addis Walta) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen called on the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to bolster its support for Ethiopia in its endeavors to manage migration.
Deputy Prime Minister Demeke received the Director General of the IOM at his office today.
He congratulated her on her election and expressed his desire for a strong partnership with the Ethiopian government.
He also briefed the Director General about the implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement and underscored the key role of the IOM in our resettlement and rehabilitation programs, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
The IOM chief, on her part, noted her first visit to Addis Ababa, the political capital of Africa, is a sign of close cooperation between the IOM and Ethiopia.
The Director General underscored that the IOM is committed to being a partner in resettlement and rebuilding programs the Ethiopian government engaged in.
