Addis Ababa, October 10, 2023 (Addis Walta) The first Ethio-Chile political consultation is being held today in Addis Ababa.
The Acting Deputy Director General for European and American Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Eskinder Yirga, and the Director General of Middle East and Africa Affairs at the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Juan Pino, co-chaired the meeting.
The two delegations carried out a comprehensive discussion on bilateral relations. The discussion is based on the Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultation signed in July 2022, which aimed to further diversify bilateral ties in various areas of cooperation, including on multilateral platforms.
Eskinder pointed out that Ethio-Chile political consultation is to be held regularly. Ambassador Juan, on his part, stressed the need to strengthen relations in the economic and education sectors as well as at multilateral forums, MFA of Ethiopia indicates.
The consultation covered the review of bilateral relations and collaboration on various regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
Chile and Ethiopia established formal diplomatic relations in 1965.
