MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Mortar shells landed on Mogadishu airport and nearby residential areas on Sunday, killing at least one person and wounding several others.
The shells targeted the city’s Adan Adde International Airport and Halane base, which is home to several diplomatic missions, including those of the United States, the United Kingdom and the United Nations.
A civilian was killed and two others wounded when a stray mortar bomb landed on their home in Tarabush area of Wadajir district, family members told local media.
The attack came just a few days after a suicide bomber detonated explosives at a teashop frequented by soldiers near the Somali presidential palace in Mogadishu.
