MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s army on Sunday captured the strategic town of Ba’adweyne in the central region of Mudug after weeks-long mobilization and advance.
With US air support, troops also captured the villages of Qodqod and Qay’ad in Mudug region, opening a new front in the offensive against militants in the central regions.
Operations have paused in several other fronts in the south, east and west of Galgadud region, where militants reversed gains made by the army after overrunning a number of military bases.
