Addis Ababa, August 27, 2023 (Addis Walta) Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan resumed negotiation over the Ethiopian Grand Renascence Dam (GERD) in Egypt, Cairo.
The tripartite negotiation was previously held in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and a draft agreement was being prepared, although it failed to proceed.
However, the negotiation resumed following Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s discussion on the matter in Cairo, in July 2023.
It is indicated that discussions and negotiations will be held on the draft agreement and other related issues.
According to the press release by the Government Communication Service, all the necessary preparations have been made to conduct the negotiations in a manner that protects Ethiopia’s national interest and future development rights.
