MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s government troops captured the town of Wabho in Galgadud region and the nearby Warholo village ahead of an offensive on the strategic Al-Shabaab stronghold town of El-bur, army chief Ibrahim Sheikh Muhudin told state media on Monday.
The general said troops continued clearing operations in rural areas in central Somalia amid an ongoing offensive to retake the towns of El-bur and Galhareeri in the central region of Galgadud.
Images circulated on social media showed US military personnel and Somali commanders collectively leading the operation in the towns of Mahas and Gal’ad.
