Gulftainer, one of the world’s leading privately-owned independent port operators, has announced the arrival of a new container service at its Sharjah(United Arab Emirates-UAE) Container Terminal that will service Berbera. The new service, named SHASOM, will offer customers a reliable and efficient option to transport their goods between the two locations.
The maiden voyage of the SHASOM service began on April 17, departing from Sharjah and arriving at Berbera port after only six days. The service will operate with a frequency of two sailings per month, with a rotation of Sharjah, Berbera, Garacad, Mogadishu, and Sharjah.

According to Port Shipping, their goal has always been to offer a service from Sharjah to Somalia. They have observed growth in the UAE/Somalia market, and have received strong support for their first three sailings.
Consequently, the launch of the SHASOM service is expected to have a significant impact on trade between Somalia and the UAE, providing businesses with a reliable and efficient way to transport their goods.
The new container service will undoubtedly enhance the economic ties between both countries further promoting trade and investment opportunities.
