The commissioner of the National Disaster Management Agency (SODMA), Mahamuud Moallim, along with his Deputy, Dr. Ahmed Abdi Adan, and other heads of the agency, recently held a crucial meeting with the Head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Somalia, to discuss issues related to internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The meeting, held at the SODMA headquarters in Mogadishu, centered on ways to help IDPs and strengthen cooperation between the two organizations. The leaders discussed various aspects of the IDP situation, including the provision of basic needs such as food, water, and shelter, as well as the need for long-term solutions to help IDPs rebuild their lives.
The meeting was an opportunity for the leaders to exchange ideas and discuss strategies for tackling the challenges faced by IDPs. They agreed to work closely together to develop solutions that would help IDPs in the most effective way possible.
At the end of the meeting, the leadership of SODMA expressed their gratitude to the leaders of the UNHCR for visiting their headquarters and for their commitment to cooperation.
The meeting between the two organizations is a positive step towards helping IDPs in Somalia. It is hoped that the collaboration between SODMA and UNHCR will lead to practical solutions that will improve the lives of those affected by displacement in the country.
