Addis Ababa, March 22, 2023 (Walta) Ethiopian Federal Democratic Republic House of People’s Representatives passed a decision to delist TPLF from the terrorist organization list.
The House made the decision by majority vote after discussing the motion to remove TPLF from the terrorist list in a special meeting today.
Following the signed peace agreement between the government and TPLF, various activities have been carried out by both sides.
As part of the peace deal, the federal government delivered humanitarian aid and restored various services in Tigrai Region while TPLF handed over heavy weapons to the federal government and gathered its combatants in camps.
It is on the basis of the peace agreement that the council approved the resolution to remove the organization from the terrorist list.
It is noted that on May 5, 2021, the House of Peoples Representatives, in its 13th regular session, unanimously approved the resolution passed by the Council of Ministers to designate Shene and TPLF as terrorist organizations.
