MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya are set to send fresh non-ATMIS troops to Somalia within weeks to take part in ongoing military operations against the militant group Al-Shabaab, Somali national security advisor Hussein Sheikh Ali said on Thursday.
In an interview with VOA Somali, Hussein Sheikh Ali said troops from the neighboring countries will lead the second phase of an offensive aimed at dislodging Al-Shabaab from a number of key towns in southern Somalia. He added that the government will end Al-Shabaab’s insurgency in 2023.
