Mogadishu, (SONNA):- The Prime Minister of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, officially launched the Modernization of Somalia Government initiative on Tuesday, which aims to reform and improve the public sector in the country.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Barre said that the initiative is a new approach to governance that will ensure a more efficient and effective government that serves the people of Somalia.
He stressed that the modernization of the government requires that all public positions and functions are based on merit, competence and transparency, and that there is a clear division of roles and responsibilities among the different levels of the government.
He also said that the institute for modernizing government services, which is composed of young professionals and experts, will serve as a hub for generating and exchanging ideas that will enhance the modern governance process. He urged the members of the institute to share their knowledge and skills with other government agencies and institutions.
The Modernization of Somalia Government initiative is part of the country’s efforts to implement the National Development Plan, which outlines the strategic priorities and goals for the social and economic development of Somalia.
